Windows & Street Lamps

Just wondered: We think our new house is great, but there are two things that really make life difficult.
Although the windows are double-glazed, they don't stop any noise at all. This means we are often woken up by people coming home late and making lots of noise. Also, the wind whistles like a banshee in the ventilation gaps, which is even worse because that can go on all night.
The other problem is the street lights. In some places on the estate, there a re lights which shine downwards, but we have one of the Victorian-type ones right outside our house. Whilst it looks very nice, it's about three feet away from our 1st foor window, and that stops us sleeping as well.
Does anyone have the same, or similar problems.
If you do, and we combine our efforts, maybe we could get something done about those things that spoil what would otherwise be a really good place to live.

  I understand from Colin that residents of two homes have already complained about the closeness of the street light to their home. As far as I know he has referred the matter to EDF energy or the Local Coucil to get a plate fitted to the offending lamp faces. Not sure though if yours was one of the homes he was referring to, I will be seeing Darren on Tuesday so will chase this with him.

  it looks like we will have to pay to extend our use of this site so that we can add extra strings,would make a lot of sense so that different subjects do not get confused, not a big prob but I might have to ask for a small contribution to finance this. Maybe for a couple of weeks we can keep it like this and then I will try to arrange a meeting to discuss things like this and also to give us "Natives" a chance to meet all the new residents, maybe even have a cup of Tea !

Hi Everyone, Merry Christmas & Happy New Year.

I thought I would keep everyone in the loop regarding the anti-social behaviour issues. For a while it's been quiet but unfortunately I had to call the police again as the infamous "George" and co. have returned. They walked around the estate and made an attempt at getting through the gates to the alley way next to the Redrow site, then ended up on the pile of mud next to my house and started throwing it around. the police turned up very quickly but just a little too late to catch them at it.

If anybody witnesses any type of anti-social behaviour please call the police and get a reference number. I'm hoping that if we keep the pressure up and nip this behaviour at the bud we can sort the problem.

Hi Again

I've also noticed one of the Quinton children walking a Bull Terrier along the green and not clearing up after it does its 'business'! This is a problem as mine and other children sometimes kick a football around etc. over there. There is however a lack of dog bins. If anyone else feels this should be dealt with let me know and perhaps we can get the council to address this issue.

  its still obvious that these people have no respect for their own street so they now have a new play ground to abuse. Forget the waste bins, I still feel strongly for a wall to be replaced or maybe a sniper? am I allowed to say that?

  Just a thought...A child walking a Bull Terrier... is that Legal ?
  Not really sure about Dog Bins in case they dont get emptied regularly, or a curious child looks inside.I thought that if your dog puts it down YOU have to pick it up and dispose of it in a suitable place so if no dog bins then take it home.
  If you don't pick it up then WE TAKE YOUR PICTURE!!

Hope everyone had a nice christmas and best wishes for the future.

We seem to be having a problem with the redrow site not storing their materials properly. Bit of wind and insulated walls start flying around, only a matter of time before something or someone gets damaged.

Glad to say no more break ins and only one person caught taking a short cut through building site.

This is a great idea Paul well done.

Just wanted to say what a great idea this site is, we dont get to attend the neighbourhood watch meetings because of work commitments so this is a good way of us keeping up to date with what is going on.

if george and co are back on the loose already maybe its about time social services are informed because it leads back to the same question what are the parents doing? What happened when the housing officer payed a visit? These people seem not to care for the punishment that housing officers offer. Im sorry if this seems extreme but george is 8yrs old today in a couple of years he is going to have a growth spurt then what next?

p.s I will have to research the sniper offer paul!

Just to let you all know,it looks like a car belonging to the new residents in No 8 Amethyst has been broken into, probably on the night of the 30th.I have reported it as a break-in to the Police but as the residents are away at the moment I cannot confirm that it was a break-in although it very much LOOKS like it !May have been just another chancer trying the doors
PLEASE CHECK THAT THEY ARE LOCKED when you leave them people !

  Simon's car (which is on the grass beside our house at the moment) had a couple of lads having a look in just after Christmas - maybe the 27th. Thankfully Dave next door saw them and they ran away. We didn't report it but maybe it's worth noting. Let me know if you need to know any more.

Happy new year.

I have had a long battle with bovis (and its still ongoing) over the quality of there building on this site. is there anybody else having the same problem. especially with the quality of the brick work and pointing. Also it was found that my house has been built in correctly, which may create planning issues with the council. It would be greatful to know if anybody else experiencing similar problems as this would be helpful in regards to reporting to NHBC and council.

WINDOW CLEANERS

Has anyone sorted out a window cleaner? We've been here since March and our upstairs windows look awful!!! I had a few cards through a while back but haven't had any through the door lately. Can you recommend anyone?

i heard from a friend that on some building sites they pay for your windows to be cleaned as the majority of dirt is caused by the buiding works. In Bean they are payed to put up with noise and dirt polution from neighbouring works. Maybe worth a thought for the time being.

Hi Everyone - Happy New Year to you all
I too have wind whistling through those vents at the top of the windows - not sure what we can do about that though! Also I have seen various window cleaners around - there was one just before Christmas cleaning the Show House windows - I will pop in the office and see if I can get his number.

On a plus note - I have been pleased (so far) with how warm my house is - the heating seems to be pretty good doesn't it? Although if anyone can explain how to use it properly - any tips greatfully received! Wendy x

I have several thing wrong with the hosue eg unfinished work, builder muck in my garden, so the garden unable to be finished, missing window in the house, poor workmanship and brittle mortar the list goes on. As an civil engineer it is dreadful to see this standard of work considering how much money i paid for the house.
Bovis have tried all the usual trade fog offs until they realised i am an enginner and now totally ignore me. i have had NHBC down here they have instructed them to undertake the work. i have noticed with other properties on the same poor workmanship estate especially if the houses is red bricked with the pointing and uneven facing. This is down to the individual taste but i paid for a new house with no undullations on the extior walls and window and everything else they havnt done.

i hope this give you an insight, are you experiencing any problems wendy? if you are please do call

  I have also had a few (minor) problems with my house - (back door not sealed, dented front door, wrong handles put on kitchen units, canopy over front door not sealed -water coming in gas flue and some cracks to my render which covers my house. This is still outstanding but Bovis have instructed the work to be undertaken now - I am just waiting for the go-ahead!!! To be fair - they have done the rest of the snagging - but you do have to keep on at them!!! I am constantly Emailling their Customer Services Manager - Les Trott!!

Anybody who hasn't returned the petition form to me regarding the Emergency Gate in Bismuth Drive can they please do so as soon as possible as I am expecting a visit from KCC Highways and Redrow within the next few days and I need all the ammunition I can get as, at the moment, they are not in agreement with what we are asking.They want to install a & Foot Width restriction with a speed bump , and I personally think that any "Boy Racers" around will see this as being a Take Off Ramp Probably making the situation worse than it would be without any restriction !

I have some of those problems as well. I started talking to les and then jeff coleman the director of bovis. they were instructed by NHBC to complete the house by end of November and to this date(Six months since i moved in) I have been taken this through the solicitor in case they didnt perform and now i look taken legal action.

with regards to the crack on your house i have seen when i drive by. you need to ensure the work is correctly carried out you will still have problems with the crack and eventually water will seep between the render and brick work and the render will crack even more and the possibility of damp.

In regards to your meeting a point which needs to be expressed to KCC and redrow. i think if you highlight the fact that if bismuth drive becomes through road. then they need to provide footpaths as the road will be become a public road then KCC highways have a duty of care to protect pedestrians from the road. if they dont they they will be come liable if some one get hit from traffic speeding through.

  Thanks Kevin,actually I did raise this point about a physical demarkation between road and footway when I noticed that Trona Court did not have any pavement.Apparently the current policy of KCC Highways is that the different colours of the Block Paving shows where the road stops and the footway begins,and they believe that the presence of pedestrians in front of them will be enough to make a vehicle drive slowly and carefully. These IDIOTS do not give a damn about the safety of either us or our children. They have actually told me that they do not believe an accident will happen but if it does they will reassess the situation.This is the very reason why I told Colin,site manager, that we had to have the speed restriction notices,10MPH,which you see on the lamp posts.As a further point to this could people PLEASE ask their visitors to respect the speed limit as I have on a couple of occasions seen visitors driving here at nearer to Thirty than Ten !

Heres another thing anoy KCC ask to see there policy pedestrian areas and ask to see a Risk Assessment for no justication for pathways and who has signed it as this will get them nervous as your asking who is responsible to put peoples lives in danger from be hit by cars.
As they say colour bricks are the demarkation how is a child to know that and where are the signs to indicate this.

Hi All

Couple of things I need to say, firstly thank you all for the lovely welcome, had lots of New Home cards from my new neighbours and that has been very touching. My last house was a Barratt home and we formed a residents assosication to fight them on some issues and 7 years later we are all still really close so that fact this has been formed and also this blog (a forum might be a better place - there are some free ones about With the busy lives we all lead the computer is the perfect way to all keep in touch and I for one (Sarah) will help in anyway I can.
Paul thanks for the note about the car and reporting it, not had time to have a good look at it but I think I forgot to lock it before going away so I don't think they broke into it but they have definately riffled around but there was nothing in there of value I think - it's not my car, it's a friends who holidayed with us (men drove and women flew) they will be home late tonight so will have to break the news to him.
I was supposed to have had my curtesy call from Colin tomorrow but have phoned to cancel it as not had time to really assess our property yet, especially as it then goes over to the customer service side after that one visit. I have noticed a creaky floor board so the hall carpet has all got to come up!!!
Once we have a better platform for this I would like to know what everyone does for a living. For example my husband Terry is an Electrician so if in an emergency you know you can call on us to help. I also have a good friend who is a plumber and always looking for work - whilst we were away he took out the useless downstairs toilet and installed a Utility room for me (I must write to Bovis about their modern living ideas)Am looking for a gardener if anyone knows of one?

  Just for info - I am an Office Manager for a Flooring Company based in Rochester and Dave is an Engineer working at Amphenol's in Whitstable. Occupations not much use for our neighbours in an emergency (unlike Terry's very useful trade)!! Can be called upon for the borrowing of sugar, tea, coffee etc, etc though! - And as I am usually around on a Friday - I do take in the odd parcel for neighbours not in!!!!!

Has any body else had problems with their toilets?

By that I mean them backing up with water and when some body else in line flushes theirs the water making a glugging sound in the toilet basin.

We have asked about it at the sales office but not had a reply yet.

  Darren got a plumber to dismantle the tiles to get at the spoil pipe. He found it was blocked and backing up.
  Don't know how it got blocked, it was already smelling on the day we moved in.
  Not sure it's a terribly good idea to have to start breaking tiles and pulling the house to bits whenever a pipe blocks, especially since the pipe must be horizontal to fit in that horizontal channel. How is anything supposed to flow?

    Our downstairs toilet blocks easy too, I thought it was my cooking though!
    
    The sink also leaks abit when you wash your hands and they said it was where the taps are not sealed to the basin? The sink used to block but on investigation found plaster had set in the pipes were the decorators cleaned their brushes. If the toilet is flushed then you use the sink the toilet does make a funny noise as if it cant cope with the lack of pressure. it tends to go glug, glug, glug until you stop running water.
    
    Some radiators were not getting hot, so bled them through but they now tend to leak a bit and I can`t seem to find a washer small enough to fit so used some pt tape on the threads.

    Hi everyone,
    
    We are also having a really bad smell from the downstairs toilet. We mentioned it to Bovis back in September and they sent someone down the manhole but found no problems. We are still talking to them now about it. The problem is they keep sending us a plumber with no sense of smell which does not help!
    
    We also have a problem with the water trap in the bath disappearing after so many flushes of the bathroom toilet and a smell occuring from there.
    
    Other than that most of the snagging work has been carried out and as mentioned before you just have to keep on at Bovis!

Hi,

I arrived home today to yet another letter for 9 Amethsyt House and it's starting to drive me crazy!!!! We've had several letters/bills delivered to the wrong address and have passed them on or put them back in the post box.
Is anyone else having a similar problem? I'm worried my post is going elsewhere too. Anyone know who I should contact? Do we have a regular post man?

  I get mail every day for 7 Amethyst House!! I take it all to work with me and give it to my postie there for re-direction!! It drives me mad too! I'm so glad it's not just me!!! I have told our postman to look at the address to see if it's Amethyst House - but it's not the same postie every day.

I had a meetiung today with KCC and Redrow regarding the border between our (Bovis) estate and the Redrow new development at the end of Bismuth Drive, between numbers 49 and 24.
Redrow have now agreed to install staggered,Locked bollards which they prefer to a gate.This will mean that no traffic can pass through this point except for Emergency vehicles and even then,only after they have unlocked and removed the bollard.
This seems to me to be perfectly acceptable as it would give us the desired effect but probably look more "Attractive" than a hard metal gate.
I would however,welcome any comments you may have about this.
The Redrow engineer is now putting the proposal to his planners and does not think there will be a problem with it,KCC also assure me that they will not object to it.
It will also be done at Redrows Expense !

Bit of an arkward subject for me here !
I have been told by Bovis that SOME of the cause of the recent drain problems is due to either females disposing of personal items down the loo's,or it could be so called disposable nappies or Baby Wipes etc.
Bulky items such as these should never be disposed of in this way as the drains are not designed to cope with them.
Bio Degradeable does not neccesarily mean they will break up in a very short time, some of them can take TEN YEARS !

Brilliant news abouts the bollards!

Could everyone please check their garages and be on the look out for a ginger & white cat named JT. We have not seen JT since Monday morning despite searching for him. We have also asked Bovis to make the builders aware. If anyone is to see him, please could you reply to this or knock our door.

  I'm sure I saw a Ginger cat on Monday morning walking up towards the park. I have a new cat - (not allowing him out yet til he's chipped - as he's a known wanderer!) - but on Monday I opened the front door and Charlie followed me out - he took one look at the ginger cat walking up the road and darted back indoors - that's when I looked to see what he was scared of! Hope you find him soon - good luck. I will keep my eyes peeled.

    He is Ginger with white face & tummy. This is very unlike him as he usually comes home when he is hungry! I have called our Vet who suggests that most missing cats are trapped in neighbours sheds/garages etc so we think he may be stuck somewhere, would really appreciate it if people could spare a few minutes to check.

Can anyone update us?!

We noticed that the Sales Office is cleared out and having work done. Where has it moved to? Have they nearly finished this development? We thought they were planning to be here another six months or so...

Also, does anyone know if there will be a road through to Amethyst Drive down by the show homes? Moonstone Square residents must be unhappy about all the traffic that goes through there.

  The Sales office has moved to the corner house temporarily.Eventually the road which currently goes through and past the site office will be diverted to the left , half way down so that vehicles come out in the middle of moonstone square
  I only found this out today so will be speaking to KCC on Monday !
  Moonstone Square MUST be made one way on each side!
  
  Also I am thinking of dropping leaflets in doors to extend Neighbourhood Watch to ALL Bovis built properties......Any views on this ?

    Maybe an idea to wait until the redrow work has finished because could be a conflict of interest over access. I know you have sorted it for now but you never know what could happen as direction of traffic would be past their houses and not ours?

      KCC told me that if ANY traffic is allowed through this area then it will be in both directions.That is why I asked them to make sure that the fence borders of both No24 and No49 are in their correct positions,with the road and footway reinstated and the bollards in position before the dividing fence is removed, although I feel sure that the dividing fence will be removed before this time and temporarily replaced with Harris Fencing to allow the final works to be completed.
      I would not like to see residents moving in to the Redrow properties and start using the access to the Bovis site as this could then lead to problems with KCC agreeing to close it again.
      I thought that the best motto would be "Start as you mean to go on",No access from the start means no access at all and no arguements from Redrow residents.
      As always people,Please let us all know your views on this.

  As Paul mentioned the new Sales Office is now in the smaller Show House to the right of where it used to be. Have just found out this morning that there will be no main access road built going straight up past the Show Homes up to the main roundabout! I was told when I bought my house that the main way out through the estate would be straight up past the Show Homes and site office. They have plonked the foundations of a rather large house right at the end of this road - I'm really annoyed about it. I'm sick of driving up Moonstone Sq to get out to the main road - and I'm sure those living in Moonstone Sq are sick of the traffic going up there too! What do you think?

I wanted to report some more minor anti-social behaviour where the police were called again. This time some of the kids from the Quinton (5 to be exact) were pulling up the plants and shrubs etc. from in front of the houses to the left of the park as you face it. They have some sort of 'camp' they are trying to build I think. All innocent childs play apart from the lack of respect for common areas of planting that would have hopefully made the green area around the park more attrractive in the coming years.

Hi Again, another minor anti-social behaviour problem regarding the kids park. As you all may be aware there is a blue shelter in front of this. Over the past few weeks a couple of guys have been there at various times drinking alcohol and urinating all over the place. They obviously have a drink problem as they are there at all sorts of times, as early as 8am and as late as 9pm. They sometimes stay for 3-4 hours at a time. The police have been informed a few times and the last time the police suggested that many of the troubles were related to the shelter i.e kids climbing all over it and urinating off the top as well as jumping off of it onto the scaffold bags last year. As a shelter it seems to attract the drinking element too. The contstable suggested we all got together as we did regarding the bollards and handed a petition in to the council to get the shelter itself removed. I wnated to know what everyones thoughts were on this?

One last message! I don't know if anyone is interested but I have a painfully slow internet connection via broaband due to the distance away from the exchange. I assume most other people in this area do too. There could be a possible solution to this via wireless broadband. Last year I had a connection to 'Sobroadband' who offered this but went into receivership in November, it was a fantastic service though. A company called Vfast (www.vfast.co.uk) have taken over and are currently looking into taking over the Sittingbourne and Iwade network to switch it back on. The more interest that is shown the more likely this is to happen. It will allow up to 16MB download speed. Have a look at thier web site and pricing. If you are interested please register by email. Even if you are not interested registering will hopefully sway them into reinstating the network. You can do this by sending an email to the following address - sales@vfast.co.uk

  Yes I to have a slow connection and a 6 hour chat with BT (india) to try and solve the problem. 2 Hubs later and they still can`t fix it. I pay them for the top package and expect a service. I don`t think they know what they are doing? I really would like a telewest connection but have to wait.

  I am not too sure that removal of the shelter,which would not be an easy thing to get Swale to agree to,would solve this current problem.I think that it would just lead to these people sitting on the swings or somewhere else inside the Playground area. I would be more inclined to go for a Prohibition of Alcohol consumption in this area due to the fact that it is a dedicated area for childrens play.The police should have records of quite a few requests to attend there recently in connection with these people and I am currently awaiting a reply from the Anti Social Behaviour office in Sittingbourne Police station regarding the use of the existing by-laws to combat this problem.

    Hi Paul, I take your point about the shelter. Perhaps we can wait for your reply on the by-law issue before we go further with the petition. The problem with the shelter isn't just the two guys using it as a 'pub' however. There are also issues with the 'less well behaved' children using it to jump off of onto matresses / scaffold bags and uriniating off the top too. plus I don't think I've ever seen anybody using it for it's purpose so I don't see the point of it. Both banning alcohol in the area and removal of the shelter in my mind would be an ideal soloution.

      I agree with Paul Lewis that removel of the shelter won`t solve the problem it will just move the problem. The best solution for the time being I feel would be to take photos of these incidents with a digital camara put them onto disk and then Paul can pass them on. We did the same thing with trespassers on the redrow site and touch wood no one has been back. This comment is not to say that I don`t sympathise with you as I to was distgusted with the state of the play area when I took my daughter over there in the snow. Its about time that these people/animals are named and shamed!

Good point. I'll have a word with Paul Lewis as it may be we can do the same as last time. Just an update on the blue shelter issue, the same guy was back again on Friday and the police arrived and moved him on. Lucky as he had a carrier bag full of cans waiting to be consumed!

On the broadband side, I had a complete refund from BT last year because of the slow speed when I complained that it was miss sold. I have just found out that Vfast have Sittingbourne up and running again and at present i'm getting 2MB download for free!! I assume they didn't switch my login and password off from when sobroadband were in control of the equipment. I have asked them to reconnect me to the 8MB Download and 8MB Upload speed!! If you want a good speed I would ditch BT and go the Vfast route. Slightly pricier but well woth it for customer support and quality of connection.

When it snowed I thought I would take my 2yr old over the play area to play in the snow and on the swings. I found an old matress complete with springs exposed a bent up and broken push bike an old childs play table and a few beer bottles and cans. So we went and played in the road with the traffic thought it might be safer!

Is there any news on the camara to watch these people that abuse our neighbourhood.

Just thought I would update everyone on the blue shelter problem. Over the past two weeks the police have been called a number of times on various occasions to deal with the guy and his friend who sit in the shelter and drink then urinate on the green. They were again caught and moved on by the police on the 18th. If anyone sees this behaviour please report it to the police on 01795 477055. The more times we report any anti social behaviour the better chance we have of getting resources to control this type of problem. Thanks

Just a quick warning re Quinton children - now nice weather is well on it's way along with the now lighter evenings - trouble has started again - after school time and weekends - threats to vehicles - ie, we can touch your car if we want and there's nothing you can do about it, - taking wood, spades, shovels, etc not secured from building site, throwing stones & mud - the usual rubbish from them - if you see them - as they do strutting down the middle of the road - make your presence known - come out and just make them aware that you are there - you don't have to say anything to them - but they don't seem to like being watched!

Hi,

Anyone got any good tips on how to revive my grass?!?! It looks awful and there are bald patches in places. It's been laid for about a year and once looked well but it hasn't survived the winter months very well. I'm not very green fingered! Any advice greatfully received.

  JUst get a packet of 'weed and feed' from the garden centre or Homebas and sprinkle it on. You'll need to water it in after a few days if it doesn't rain. Repeat every couple of months during the growing season, and even the bald paches should be covered up quite quickly. If they're too big, you may have to resort to a bit of seed. I believe there are special little seed packets for lawn repairs.

Careful where you put your bins my neighbour told me that some lads were using mine to boost themselves over the fence into the redrow site.

I over heard one of the many people veiwing their new flats that Bismuth drive has good access to their new homes for removal lorries and parking. I think maybe a deadend sign would be an idea and the redrow people to inform their customers that there will be a fire gate in place before someones car or property is damaged.

I won`t be able to attend the up coming meeting as I am at work till 0100am. Hopefully Shirley will attend in my place.

  It would probably be best if everybody who has a "Wheelie Bin" were to buy a Lock and Chain to secure it, maybe to a Rainwater Downpipe or a "Screw Eye" fixed into the wall.These things can give easy access through an open window which you forgot to close because you were in a rush to leave the house !
  Also , think how many of your valuables could be loaded into one of them and wheeled off down the road !
  If we make it as hard as possible for the thieves they will go for the EASIER TARGET ......not one of OUR HOMES !!

Following on from the residents meeting at Bobbing Village hall the other night I thought I would log the issue of loud music coming from one of the properties in the Quinton Estate. It now seems to be a regular occurence starting around 09:30 and going onto 13:00. As suggested for this Anti Social Behaviour or any other the way to stop it is by reporting it. Only then will the resources be allocated to our area. I have reported this twicw now and I know other have too. Every time this happens I will report it and I would ask that everyone else does too. The numbers to call are 01795 417575 (Swale Council) or 01795 477055 (police).

Has anyone had any problems because i walk off the estate that way and im really worried for my safety.I contacted the police on sunday, they were not interested and put me on to the local council. Ive have no reply . Help!!!!!!!!!. p.s it takes me an extra 30 mins to walk round the long way. Jo xx

  I have asked that it be bought to the notice of Sergeant Darren Ryder who usually deals Very Swiftly with these Undesirables
  For your info the incident number for this report was 21/1651.
  It may seem pointless but if anybody has five minutes to spare can they PLEASE report the matter again...and again...and again....you get the idea !
  Also ask for it to be bought to the attention of Sergeant Darren Ryder.

  Further to my reply yesterday
  The land which these people are occupying is owned by Redrow Homes.
  This makes it a bit more difficult for the Police because it becomes a Civil action of Trespass and Redrow have to take Legal Action.I have called their M.D. today aned his secretary assures me that Legal Proceedings have been started.If anybody else wants to complain to Redrow(PLEASE DO SO) the contact details are as follows:
  Mr George Cronin 01268 886400,I can only hope that the more complaints they get the more they are likely to push their Legal Team to get this sorted.
  In an attempt to put some worried people at ease I have spoken to two Police Officers today,I have a lot of faith in both of these particular officers and one of them has told me that the current travellers do not wish any of us or, more importantly our children,any harm. they just want a place to "Park up" for a while and have no wish to threaten or annoy us in any way. I am not saying that it is 100% safe to walk through that route but I do believe the feedback which I receive from these officers.At the end of the day is ANYWHERE 100% safe ?

I said they were blocking a right of way etc. The policeman on duty was not exactly enthused!!

I hope they will be gone by Bank Holiday!

Hi

Just an update, i reported the dumped cars to the police today. I explained there were 4 cars. also I mentioned that the travellers have now occupied the the strip of land the other side of the tress and were nearer to residents!!

Looks like the dumped cars have been removed this afternoon!!

whilst walking out of our estate this morning around 8 dogs charged at me, which scared the hell out of me!!!!. The dogs had no leads on which is a concern. Dan has reported this to police and redrow today. Looks like i will be getting back on the bus!!! £££££

Hi People
Just to let you all know, I am going to put a "Speed Bump" type ramp in Bismuth drive just our side of the Redrow "Debut" Site to try to physically slow down the drivers Entering and Exiting there.
Some of them do not seem to understand what 10 MPH means, so a little more drastic measures seem to be neccesary.
If any of OUR residents have any objection to this please let me know.

Hi all,
Has everyone noticed the yellow signs that have been put up today - (7th June) directing Redrow 'Customers' down Amethyst Drive along Bismuth and into their new Dubut Site! It said on their website a few weeks ago that the development was totally sold out - so 'Customers' should read - 'Resident's' - as there's no more selling to do! So much for Redrow & Bovis assuring us that there wouldn't be vehicle access there!! Or is this a temporary measure? Anyone know anything?

Hi All

in regards to redrow access in bismuth drive, if there was to be a block access on the plans with the council, and as this is not been done then they are breaking their planning application (paul whats your view on this?). also i think we should park in awkard positions on the road to slow cars down as i have noticed cars comming out of their at some speed at times. so they slow down and not hurt any kids playing in front of their houses.

some redrow residents have been complaining about the speed ramp. Apparantly redrow told its residents that it shouldn`t be there? One person in particular driving a bmw black or blue in colour even went as far knocking on my door and advising me that its damaging his vehicle and his exhaust costs £3000 (yeah right.) Unfortuantly this guy now revs his car in frustration every time he sees me now and his car does clear the ramp because I have watched him. Maybe redrow should write a letter to its new residents explaining why its there and that its situated on bovis land. I think some people see my AA van and think I organised the ramp. That is not to say that I think its a bad idea, it has slowed them down alot which is good news!!!!!!!

With ref to the pikeys watch where you walk as its not dogs mess you have to worry about need I say more!

  I hope you told the BMW driver where to get off (As a BMW driver it says it all and he wont be stupid enough to buy an exhaust for £3000 again). Speed bump are designed to go over slowly. you will only damage you car if your going overthem fast.
  if they really want to kick up a stink about the bump them i am sure we can do even harder about the access and then they wont have any access to they property. which they even more unhappy about.

Pedestrian Access to the Estate

Are we the only ones, or is anyone else getting more than a little frustrated at the ongoing lack of pedestrian access.
Bovis have built a footpath at the north end of Bismuth Drive onto Quinton Road, by the traffic lights, but they have dumped a huge great skip on it, and have fenced off the access.
At the other end, people have started moving into the Redrow houses, so they have had to take down their fence to let them in, but they have retained the fence that prevents access to the footbridge over the railway.
Despite the fact that Bovis have finished all building work on Bismuth Drive, they are now taking diabolical liberties with our quality of life.
- they have parked a huge skip across the footpath that we should be able to use to get to the shops
- they are using the car parking area for the housing at the end as a builders' supply yard
- we are having to suffer the noise and disturbance, all day long, of fork lift trucks ferrying supplies to and from the car park and dumping stuff in the skip
- the huge lorry that regularly comes to replace the skip with an empty one makes even more noise, and has totally ruined the block paving in front of it, by digging a hole about a foot deep as it tries to lift it up
I think we have all been amazingly tolerant of the disturbance whilst they were building but, since Darren has left, they no longer show any understanding about any of the problems we have with our houses and, as far as I am concerned, they have stretched our goodwill waybeyond snapping point.
I think it’s time we said ‘Enough is enough’ with the disturbance and taking liberties with our property. They aren’t building here any more, so they should take their stuff elsewhere and allow us proper access to our properties, such as we paid for.
As for Redrow, there’s absolutely no need for them to have that fence in front of the railway bridge. They should tidy up the access at both ends of the bridge and open it up.
I’m totally fed up of having to walk an extra 20 minutes each way whenever I need to get to places like the Post Office in Milton, or to Sittingbourne.
Does anyone agree with me that it’s high time for a joint approach to get something done about it?

I totally agree with you! I am sick of Bovis ferrying their crap down Amethyst to that skip! There's no reason why their Heavy Plant has to keep going up and down past our houses now - other than to get to this skip. They should have made provision on the current site to put this skip - I suppose it's because they have crammed so many properties onto this area - they've left no room for it! I am also sick of all the lorries turning up every morning by the show house to unload - who show no consideration to us trying to get past to get our children to school on time or to work! One of them told me to drive over someones garden the other day to squeeze past - I said No - of course - and had to wait for ages because he wouldn't move - miserable git!!

    Sorry James. Thought we were still talking about the ones by the old Redrow site office. We hadn't seen the ones on our play area as we always leave the estate on foot by tunneling under the fence by the big skip onto Quinton Road.
    I assume the way to stop them getting vehicles onto the play area is to put up some of those wooden barrier things, like they have where that green strip crosses Emerald Crescent.

Sorry about the concrete monsters people !
I am trying to arrange a meeting with Swale Council tomorrow (Monday 2nd) to arrange to get the "Knee Bar" fencing from side to side between No1 Raite Green and No 10 Amethyst Drive.
I realise that the tubes are unsightly but I assure you they ARE only very temporary and at least they wont Urinate and Deficate all around the bushes whilst they are there !

Re the parking around the building site.
I reported this matter to the Health and Safety Executive and they got an assurance from Bovis....YEAH..RIGHT!!!!....that this will not happen again.
I am sure that it WILL happen again so please,if anybody sees it again please let me know and tell the offendor/s and Colin or Theo, if possible, that the HSE will be told about it again !

  Not us.
  I don't understand why they want us to just throw all the recycling stuff together in the same bin without any attempt to keep paper, metal and plastic separate. I can't believe they're going to employ someone to try and sort it all out afterwards, so it can be recycled.
  There are bound to be some plonkers who put general waste in the blue bins and contaminate it all.

    we use the plastic bowl for glass and seperate our own recycling into platsic carrier bags. Although they say they don't accept carrier bags we have not had any complaints from the bin men. We just put the filled bag straight into the bin. It won't smell because you are supposed to wash the recycling before disposal. Remember they have threatened to fine people for dirty waste!
